Overview: The proposed renovation seeks to transform the existing multi-level dwelling into a bright, functional, and enduring family home that blends mid-century design principles with a modern coastal aesthetic. The project presents an opportunity for a cohesive reconfiguration that maximises natural light, spatial efficiency, and flow between indoor and outdoor zones. The design will prioritise practical family living, connection to the natural environment and an improved street appeal to anchor the home’s renewed character to its coastal setting.
Internally, the design intent is to create layered, light-filled spaces that remain functional as this young family grows. The lower-ground floor will be adapted to include a guest suite, laundry, and kids rumpus zone, while integrating flexible work-from-home and gym areas. The central living level will be opened up to form spatious yet defined kitchen, dining, and lounge zones to support natural light and cross ventiliaton. This level will connect to an outdoor entertaining area overlooking a pool, and chicken coop set in an open, naturalistic garden. Upstairs, at least two children’s bedrooms and a master suite will provide calm, comforting retreat for this family. This home will celebrate its mid-century origins in its aesthetic direction, while prioritising sustainable material selections and energy-efficient systems where possible.
